[002] Voice - Welcome Back

[Daria looks older since she was last seen, maybe even 30. Her looks have stabilized to something a little less painfully plain, though still intellectual, and her clothes suit her frame. However, she looks every bit as unimpressed as her younger self would.

She remembers how this goes, and turns on the voice feed for her version of letting people know she's back and seeing who's still here that she remembers. Surprisingly, that will be quite a lot of people.]

I thought I stopped having these dreams way back before college.

Must be nerves.

[She is also under the impression that her time in Luceti ended some time ago, and that she has inexplicably been brought back.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, it turns out.]

[Whoa, that's definitely moving faster than a guy back home would. And yet... It makes her blush faintly, as if she were a gawky schoolgirl all over again.]

I am unfamiliar with that term... Though if am interpreting it correctly then I disagree....

[Spock, stop that unless you want to see her face turn a most pleasing bumpy texture when a rash breaks out as she gets nervous. She remembers that happening when she was younger, at least. If she's lucky, she's about to learn it's a developed immunity now that she's older.]

Still, Daria can't help remembering the hospital giving her the deaf woman to read to, because of the complaints about her flat, soul-crushing voice. Heh. She hasn't thought about that in years.]

Perhaps you can tell me more about you? What are your hobbies? What do you most enjoy?

[Those are easy enough... though she's not really used to someone hanging on her every word.]

Reading and writing, mostly. I draw the line at arithmetic.

[The last part is a joke; though she hasn't done much with it since school, with her focus being literature.]

I do not engage in creative writing.... Though I must admit that I excel at science and mathematics...

[A green blush had spread over his face... the chocolates were starting to take effect.

The Vulcan dipped his finger into the condensation from his water... and wrote out:

[She frowns. Math still isn't the first thing in her mind, especially without pencil and paper to keep track of it.

[Spock's attention was fully on Daria... and a part of Spock's mind was telling him to 'please stop...please stop now...']

Let's just start with the wine. [She wasn't foolish enough to get drunk in this situation, but it might help her relax.]

Though, alcohol does not effect Vulcans the same as humans... that is why I have the chocolates.

[Spock is starting to grin kind of stupidly now....He's finished off his plate of fine chocolates.]

[She kind of hopes he isn't saying the chocolate is making him drunk. It wasn't a liqueur, was it? Anyway, it would explain his... haste.]

Chocolates are always a good gift for a woman, too. [No, this would not end well.]

Indeed? I was not aware....

[Spock suddenly stumbled his way out of the booth... then returned shortly with two plates of chocolates.

He placed one in front of Daria...]

[Big smile! The Vulcan sat back down then indulged in another piece of chocolate.]

Trust me. Some things are universal. Even if that leads to stereotypes and generalizations.

I do not like stereotypes...

[Spock pouted and ate another chocolate.]

The English language is an interesting phenomenon... one of the most difficult that I have ever had to learn...

There is much that I do not yet understand.

[He comes on a bit strong... but on the other hand, it's not like people beat down her door for dates, and she doubts that's going to change as she slips through her thirties into even older numbers. It's kind of flattering. Especially since she's kind of attracted to him already, she's realizing.

At least he's not crude. That's a definite plus, too.]

I can help you with your language practice. [... She just almost made a comment about helping him learn a foreign 'tongue'. Kill her now.]

I am most amenable to that suggestion. [gawd spock.. what are you on.]

Though I must admit that my comprehension on the English language is limited in the area of emotion...

How do you tell someone that you are attracted to them? [Drum roll please....]

I don't have a whole lot of experience in that, but I guess if you were going to say it, it'd be something like 'I like you' or asking them on a date somewhere.

[She's going to be over here hoping he means her, but pretty sure he doesn't. They've just met - what is she even thinking?]
